About La Ferme du Merle ...
This 19th-century traditional farmhouse has been lovingly restored, bringing it right into the 21st century without losing any of its original charm.
Two families or a group of friends will find it makes the perfect place for a La Clusaz chalet holiday. It’s just five minutes’ walk from Manigod village, where you can pick up fresh bread at the boulangerie or enjoy a delicious fondue at the popular Val Sulens restaurant.
The chalet makes the most of the glorious views over the Manigod valley, which you can admire from the two balconies or either of the terraces. There’s also a large garden and a safe play area, which young children and their parents will appreciate.
The property ...
This beautiful Savoyard farmhouse is large enough to sleep eight adults in comfort, but still manages to retain a cosy home-from-home atmosphere.
There are four bedrooms, one of which has a striking four-poster bed, and three bathrooms, so you won’t have to queue in the mornings. Separate living areas include a reading corner, a cosy place by the woodburner and a spacious sitting room with a television, so you can always find some privacy. There's also a separate dining room, where there’s plenty of room for everyone to get together in the evening to discuss the day over a meal.
Returning from the ski slopes, you'll enjoy a session in the outdoor sauna to relax before the start of a great evening.
After dinner, you can catch up on your favourite programmes with French and British cable TV, relax with a good book, chat in front of the woodburner, or watch the sun go down as you enjoy a glass of wine on one of the two terraces.
About the area ...
You couldn’t pick a more perfect spot for your winter holiday.
La Ferme du Merle is less than 10 minutes’ drive from the pistes at Manigod, where parking is free. From here, the Aravis ski pass gives you access to the 220km of pistes and 95 lifts of La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand. There are also lots of trails for cross-country skiers. If you’d rather leave the car at home, the ski bus stops just outside the chalet.
Non-skiers can strap on their snow shoes and take to the mountain paths, or go ice-skating or swimming in the heated indoor and outdoor pools in La Clusaz. And at the end of the day, La Ferme du Merle is the perfect place to regroup and plan your next adventure.
In the summer, If you can tear yourself away from the sunny terraces and the views at La Ferme du Merle, you’ll find plenty to do in the La Clusaz region.
There’s no shortage of walks, from mountain trails to hiking on the Gliéres plateau, the scene of the Resistance’s campaign against the German army in World War II. Adrenalin junkies can try paragliding, canyoning, climbing, mountain-biking or white-water rafting - just some of the activities on offer within a few miles of Manigod. Via ferrata is a great family day out, with children as young as eight able to explore the mountains on iron walkways, secured to a harness.
You’ll be glad to get back to the chalet and put your feet up at the end of the day!
La Ferme du Merle is a great choice for a large group who want plenty of space from their mountain home - and it comes at a great price too. If this sounds like just what you are looking for, check your dates against our availability calendar - we can hold the property for you for 24 hours if you like, while you finalise your plans. Don't wait too long to book though - this is a very popular choice with OVO Network guests.

The OVO Network Review
“...we are delighted to be able to once again offer this popular chalet to OVO Network guests.”
The 220m2 four bedroom, three bathroom Ferme du Merle is spread over two floors, and can welcome up to 10 guests (max 8 adults). Within a five-minute walk of Manigod village, this traditional style farmhouse is set on a quiet road with very little passing traffic as there only a handful of other properties further along. The farm is also the first chalet we worked with, and the reason we launched OVO Network.
The chalet works well for family groups, summer and winter alike, for sporting enthusiasts, or stay at homers who prefer to snuggle in and watch the ever-changing landscape, which varies enormously throughout the day and from season to season.
There are spectacular views from the terraces either side of the chalet, and from the south facing balcony where roses and a mature vine grow up the wall of the chalet all summer long. With good proximity to the Aravis ski fields and to Lake Annecy, and with numerous activities, places to visit and things to do in the surrounding area, this chalet is a great base to explore from.
The dining table is large enough for all to eat together, the sofas in the sitting room deep, soft and comfy, and there are extra stools and seating along the hearth for round the table apero and/or Jenga championships! There are two armchairs in front of the wood burning stove, and a home office space. Kids will love the cosy cabin-like double bunk room on the ground floor, away from the grown ups! The recently-installed kitchen is well equipped and a pleasure to cook in. Upstairs, the three double bedrooms are all with en suite.
A real bonus to this property : the outdoor sauna added in early 2019 !
We are delighted to be able to offer this popular chalet to OVO Network guests.

From the Owner
The great advantage of a holiday here is that you can be as busy or as relaxed as you wish to be.
“Welcome to our home in the beautiful valley of Manigod. This is an early 19th century farmhouse typical of the region, that was first modernized in the 1990’s. We fell in love with and bought it in the year 2000 and were able to live here for a couple of years and send our children to the local school. In that time we were able to visit the local brocantes and antique fairs spending our time trying to find the right furniture to keep in character with the house. Hopefully we have managed to keep true to it’s original sense of charm but with a modern comfort. The house is only a five minute walk away from the centre of the village, but because it is off the main road it remains in a quiet location.
The views are beautiful and always changing. The great advantage of a holiday here is that you can be as busy or as relaxed as you wish to be. There are so many fantastic activities available in both winter and summer, but it’s also easy to get away from it all if you want to. We love the snow and skiing is our favourite sport, but we also love the summer and enjoy just spending time on the beaches by Lake Annecy.
We eat really well here, not just because of the great range of restaurants available in the region- From pizza parlours to menu gastronomique. But we also have a great choice of many good food shops – locally in Manigod with a boulangerie and local speciality shop and with Thones a ten minute drive down the mountain providing a well stocked supermarket and a good range of speciality food shops. Enjoy!

“We feel like home”
Really enjoyed our stay at Chalet La Ferme du Merle. Lovely chalet a real home from home with excellent facilities, equipped with everything required for an enjoyable stay. Lots of space for our family of 6 adults and 2 children.
We liked the log fire ant the views.
It would have been great if there had been a local shop.
We didn't want to leave at the end of the week.

We enjoyed the comfort and size of the chalet. The kitchen is very well equipped. Great walks around La Clusaz.

“Quiet and sunny place”
Peace and quiet ! The terrace is greatly exposed. There are lovely walks to do from the front door, and the village centre is just a few minutes away (walking). Ideal to get some shopping done (bread, cheese, weekly market).

“Such a lovely area”
A cosy chalet, pretty, we loved the period property.
Beautiful scenery, we enjoyed lots of outdoor activities in the surroundings.
To note that some outdoor games for kids will be great (ping pong, bat and ball, badminton, pétanque).

“Such peace and quiet”
We had an excellent stay at the Ferme du Merle. The chalet is practical and well equipped, it is cosy, welcoming and spacious, and everyone can find a space to read, relax etc. We made the most of the outdoor space and the magnificent view of the mountains, which helped to relax us. We were able to walk to neighbouring farms to buy cheese. The walk to the village of Manigod is very easy and there is a bakery there and a shop selling local produce. The chalet is very well located, close to the pistes at Manigod and just 15-20 minutes from La Clusaz. We hope to return!

It has everything you need to spend a great holiday. The description provided on the website was spot on.

“Your chalet has the feeling of being a family home”
Our group included two families with ages ranging from 11 years to "over 45 years". We all enjoyed your lovely chalet and felt that is was the perfect location to settle down and 'pull in the drawbridge', after a hard day on the slopes. The kitchen was first rate which made self catering for a party of nine a very enjoyable and sociable part of the evening. Your chalet has the feeling of being a family home rather than a purely rental holiday home and we were all very relaxed during out stay.Thank you for a wonderful week.

“We loved our stay at Chalet La Ferme du Merle. ”
The communication prior to our arrival was excellent. Our party consisted of 2 families (8 people in total) and the chalet accommodated us very comfortably. The kitchen is very well equipped - we cooked a beautiful Xmas lunch in it! It is a short drive to Thônes which has a large supermarket. There is a great selection of English DVDs, CDs, books and games. We would happily stay here again.
Cathy S. - 20/12/2014
Wonderful week with our family in this beautiful, spacious and authentic chalet. We felt at home and the surroundings are just exceptional. Great views and lovely garden too.

“Once again the perfect stay”
First of all we would like to thank you for your welcome basket made of local specialties that we relished on with great pleasure. Like the two past years, we really appreciated the warm welcome, the kindness and availability of Miriam and Raph. Raph even came during the week to remove the snow, which really helped us out. We had an excellent stay with our children and grand children, and we'll probably be back in 2015. The village (so close!), the calm, the walking possibilities around the chalet for the little ones, the stunning landscapes, the ideal location, the charm of the chalet, the volume of its rooms and their organisation... All this makes it the best place for families.

“It looks like on the website!”
Family holidays with 6 adults (3 couples) and 2 kids (6 and 4 years old). The conditions of our stay were just perfect to all keep our independence. We rent very often properties for our holidays and we can say that this one didn't bring any bad surprise, and the comfort equalled the amazing description on the website (the photos are really doing justice to reality). We liked the fact there were some basics in the kitchen (salt, pepper, olive oil, spices...), and that the managers really trusted us when they gave us the keys (we didn't have to count all the spoons before leaving at the end of the week!!!).
Luc J. - 23/02/2013
“We had a wonderful time”
A fabulous chalet, furbished with taste, clean and well appointed. It looked like what we booked on the website, and we quickly felt at home. The managers were very welcoming and the view is simply stunning. We also had the amazing surprise to see deers under the trees in front of the chalet at around midnight! We warmly recommend this place to anyone thinking of holidaying in the Alps!!!
Jean-Jacques R. - 26/01/2013
“What a magical week!”
We spent an amazing week at Ferme du Merle! We were 2 couples with 5 children. This chalet is so beautiful and authentic, in a quiet location, with unforgettable panoramic views. The ski lifts are easy to get to from the property thanks to the regular ski bus stopping nearby. The equipments are very functional, with a fantastic brand new kitchen and a superb ensuite master bedroom. To sum it up: don't hesitate a second before booking, we highly recommend this place.

“Perfect family reunion”
We were well-rewarded in our choice of La Ferme du Merle for a winter holiday and family reunion this year. This is a very comfortable residence indeed, well-equipped (especially the new kitchen), clean and functional in all respects. The internal circulation was easy, the layout very practical for our group (a couple with young children and we, their grandparents). We enjoyed the weather ranging from thaw to blizzard conditions and access remained easy at all times. Though we used our vehicle for most of the daily travel to and from the Merdassier ski-lift and ski-school center, the bus service worked well for the occasions when the snow was too heavy or recent to use the car. As for the skiing - well, wondrous, and our three (grand)children all went from zero experience levels to confident in the six days of our time on the actual slopes.
Thank you for your hospitality and the services at the Ferme du Merle. If our group next time was similar in composition we would certainly see if we could obtain a reservation at your property at the time of coming to Europe.
Christopher C. - 05/01/2013
We had a wonderful week! We didn't know the area at all, but wanted to be in reach of Annecy and do some walking in mountains. We had an incredibly hot week so our time was spent finding different swimming pools to cool the children down. We loved the chalet and its peaceful situation away from any road and other chalets. Very private. Felt like a real home and it was very easy living there for a week. Enjoyed exploring other villages and we all loved Talloires and the lake, which was not far at all.

“Only six of us this year but a lovely week as usual.”
Only six of us this year but a lovely week as usual. Lots of snow falling on Sunday and Monday and then sunshine the rest of the week. Perfect! Lovely meal at La Gloriette in Thones [Mum and daughter lived near Cambridge for 10 years]. Many thanks, Hava and Jan, Jane and David, Frank and David.

“Fabulous week as always at the Ferme du Merle”
This is our fourth visit now and I really
cannot fault the location or the ambience - easy walk into the village every morning for
croissants and a ?ve minute drive up the hill to ski.
Fantastic view across the valley with a beautiful sun trap balcony to enjoy it from.
Feels like a home from home, only better....
Kenway H. - 26/02/2012
Charming and very spacious chalet with wonderful views. Peaceful location close to village shop and bakery which is great for fresh croissants every morning. Rooms are comfortable and beautifully decorated with everything you could want. A real home from home.
Jo H. - 28/01/2012
Set in one of the most beautiful Alpine valleys, the village of Manigod is a mountain secret that is a delight to discover. With its own ski area linking into the famed La Clusaz ski resort, Manigod offers fabulous skiing in winter and world class cycling in the summer.
Beautiful chalets are dotted around the mountains, restaurants range from local auberges to Michelin starred, and you can buy locally made pottery and cheeses fresh from the farm.
