Secluded farmhouse with exceptional views just minutes from village
This 19th-century farmhouse has been lovingly restored, bringing it right into the 21st century without losing any of its original charm. Two families or a group of friends will find it makes the perfect place for a La Clusaz chalet holiday. It’s just five minutes’ walk from Manigod village, where you can pick up fresh bread at the boulangerie or enjoy a delicious fondue at the popular Val Sulens restaurant. The chalet makes the most of the glorious views over the Manigod valley, which you can admire from the two balconies or either of the terraces. There’s also a large garden and a safe play area, which young children and their parents will appreciate.
Character and comfort make farmhouse your luxury Alpine home from home
This beautiful Savoyard farmhouse is large enough to sleep 8 adults in comfort, but still manages to retain a cosy home-from-home atmosphere. There are four bedrooms, one of which has a striking four-poster bed, and three bathrooms, so you won’t have to queue in the mornings. Separate living areas mean you can always find some privacy, but there’s plenty of room for everyone to get together in the evening to discuss the day over a meal. After dinner, you can catch up on your favourite programmes with French and British cable TV, relax with a good book in front of the woodburner, or watch the sun go down as you enjoy a glass of wine on one of the two terraces.
Perfect base to make the most of everything the mountains have to offer
You couldn’t pick a more perfect spot for your winter holiday. La Ferme du Merle is less than 10 minutes’ drive from the pistes, where parking is free. From here, the Aravis ski pass gives you access to the 220km of pistes and 95 lifts of La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand. There are also lots of trails for cross-country skiers. If you’d rather leave the car at home, the ski bus stops just outside the chalet. Non-skiers can strap on their snow shoes and take to the mountain paths, or go ice-skating or swimming in La Clusaz, in the heated indoor and outdoor pools. And at the end of the day, La Ferme du Merle is the perfect place to regroup and plan your next adventure.
From mountain hikes to white-water rafting, there’s no end to summer action
If you can tear yourself away from the sunny terraces and the views at La Ferme du Merle, you’ll find plenty to do in the La Clusaz region. There’s no shortage of walks, from mountain trails to hiking on the Gliéres plateau, the scene of the Resistance’s campaign against the German army in World War II. Adrenalin junkies can try paragliding, canyoning, climbing, mountain-biking or white-water rafting - just some of the activities on offer within a few miles of Manigod. Via ferrata is a great family day out, with children as young as eight able to explore the mountains on iron walkways, secured to a harness. You’ll be glad to get back to the chalet and put your feet up at the end of the day!
Mountains and lakes, town and country, all within easy reach of your chalet
La Ferme du Merle is on the edge of the pretty village of Manigod in the heart of the Aravis mountain range. It’s just a five-minute walk into the village, and there are more shops and restaurants in Thônes and La Clusaz, where the tourism office organises a regular programme of events for residents and visitors all year round. The medieval lakeside town of Annecy is just 30 minutes away by car and is a great place for a day out, whatever the season, with its unique mix of restaurants, shops and museums. In the summer it’s a great place for water sports, or you could hire a boat and explore some of the quiet lakeside beaches. Whatever you choose to do, you can be sure of a holiday you’ll never forget.
